MASI AT THE STATES GENERAL OF THE GREEN ECONOMY

“Compared to other sectors, the winemaking business already has a better record for the reduction of its industrial carbon footprint. The growing preference for organic agriculture contributes to a reduction in the footprint in the vineyards and the cellars.” This is the balance in a nutshell presented by Sandro Boscaini at the States General of the Green Economy, promoted by the National Council with the Ministry for the Environment and the Ministry for Economic Development. Sandro Boscaini was invited to participate, not only as President of Federvini, but also to talk about the Masi case history, which is considered important in terms of the sustainability choices made by the wine industry.Also presented was Masi’s involvement in the VIVA Sustainable Wine project, promoted by the Ministry for the Environment with the aim of measuring the sustainability performance of the whole production process, from grape to bottle. Also included were Masi’s green practices in the entire production process in the various company centres, and in particular at Masi Tupungato in Argentina and at Poderi del Bello Ovile in Tuscany, where Masi practices organic cultivation. Together with other companies, Masi is looking for greater efficiency in the energy sector, in the use of water, in transport and in packaging, with further benefits to come for its carbon footprint.
