Poderi BellOvile 2014, Rosso di Toscana IGT (organic) has been awarded the Bio Award 2016 in the wine category. The prize is part of a project with the magazine Bio & Consumi, that is aimed at promoting the work of companies in this field which have distinguished themselves in the planning and realisation of products that are innovative and of outstanding quality. News of the award was made public yesterday evening at the prize-giving ceremony held at the Sana fair in Bologna. Produced on the 70-hectare “Poderi del Bello Ovile” estate on the edges of Montalcino in the Val d’Orcia, acquired in collaboration with Conti Serego Alighieri (descendants of Dante), this wine is a faithful expression of Masi’s “Green” philosophy. Masi has always believed in sustainability, biodiversity and research, and has made both its Tuscan vineyards and its Argentinian vineyards (in Mendoza) organic. The Sana fair was, in fact, also a chance to present the first organic vintage of the Passo Doble Argentinian wine.

Raffaele Boscaini, Marketing Director of Masi Agricola (the Valpolicella-based company most famous for its Amarone wines) and Co-ordinator of the Masi Technical Group remarked as he collected the prize: “Environmental sustainability is not just a choice of company ethics; it’s also a specific request from the market. Consumers exercise fully informed choices now, and their preference is for companies which can be seen to follow clearly defined aims. The Bio Awards 2016 is retail recognition for us than confirms our commitment to quality and our commitment to the environment.”
